Welcome to the BoogieBiz Blog

Why BoogieBiz Basics?

A HUGE shout out to all of you fellow dance fitness enthusiasts out there! My name is Candice Schutter, and I have been in the dance fitness industry for over a decade. There has never been a more exciting time to be a part of this growing empire. Booty-shakin’ workouts are everywhere, and it seems more obvious than ever that
dance fitness is here to stay! Thanks to the powerhouse marketing of companies like Zumba Fitness™, Les Mills™, Powder Blue™, Nia Technique™, HoopGirl™ and others, health clubs and dance studios feature jam-packed classes where college students, housewives, retirees, and busy professionals are sweating it out to the beat of the music. Dance fitness is currently THE fitness craze, and you can cash in on the opportunity!

BoogieBiz Basics is a beginning-stages labor of love, combining my passions for dance fitness, coaching and education into what will eventually become a reference manual for those of you out there who are (like me) turned on by
changing people’s lives through your love of dance. Since my first DF certification in 2001, I have taught thousands of students all over the country, launched three successful dance fitness start-ups, and coached & trained clients on the art of dance fitness instruction in the US and abroad.

While working individually with DancePro Clients that I realized this niche had to be filled! I have personally witnessed hundreds of new teachers pouring in and out of dance fitness certifications. I have heard the buzz of excitement as they celebrate the adventure of new career path. Yet it is soon followed by apprehension and overwhelm as they
navigate the learning curve of actually getting started.

The tips offered through this budding program are
an essential supplement to any Dance Fitness Certification. Your format trainers may teach you how to shake it… but I will take it one step further and teach you how to TEACH IT. As you may know, dance fitness trainings vary greatly. Some formats, like Zumba Fitness™, offer day-long trainings followed by optional supplemental trainings for continuing education or specialized training. Other modalities may provide more extensive training; however, they mostly focus on the dance or fitness techniques themselves.

I will teach you how to be a better teacher...
While teaching is a craft developed over time, and it can be taught. Dance fitness instruction requires its own skill set, and there are some key elements and teaching techniques that can be applied to any dance fitness certification.

I will support you in hurdling the challenges along the way...
Ask any instructor and they will tell you that teaching is not only a professional journey, it is a personal growth. Teaching offers tremendous opportunities for growth, self-reflection, and celebration. It also forces us out into the spotlight where challenges are amplified and growth is exponentially rewarded!

Your questions, comments, and SHARES are essential...
In order for these resources to be truly valuable, I need your feedback! Tell me what is working for you... request topics that you want more information on... and ask questions. You are not alone in your journey, so participate in order to get the most out of this site!

So let’s get started... let the ass-shakin’ boogie business begin!! :)
